Your 2014 Hall of Fame inductee Mark Beese brings depth and breadth to the field of legal marketing and leadership. Kicking off his career in sales and marketing outside the legal world, Mark already had gleaned deep insights into what makes a business successful. When he began his leadership consultancy, Leadership for Lawyers, LLC, he focused on helping lawyers and other professionals become adroit leaders and business professionals.
One of the biggest trending issues Mark sees with his clients is the presence of different generations in the workplace. For the first time, there are four generations trying to work together in one environment. “Whenever a new generation enters the workforce, bringing with them a new and different set of values, skills and world view, there is friction,” Mark said. “In retreats and training programs, our goal is to give people tools to better understand each other, minimize conflict and find new ways to work together, emphasizing the strengths each generation brings to the firm.”
Through assessments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Leadership Practices Inventory, in addition to leadership retreats, training sessions, group coaching and more, Mark teaches clients how to cope with age-old and emerging issues.
Mark also emphasizes that even more big changes are coming to the legal profession, and law firms need to be prepared to meet the evolving needs of their clients through a firm-wide culture shift - a process that can be difficult.
