By Meghan Spradling, LMA Social & Digital Media SIG Co-Chair
Happy New Year! As the 2020-2021 co-chair of the Social & Digital Media Shared Interest Group (SIG), I am thrilled to welcome you to “The 12 Days of Social & Digital Media!”
If you’ve followed our annual series for a while, you may have noticed that we’ve shifted the campaign from the holiday season to January. With the interesting, challenging and [insert your own adjective here] year that 2020 was for so many, both personally and professionally, we hope that starting 2021 with “The 12 Days of Social & Digital Media” will bring not only great ideas but also a smile as we march into the new year.
As we all know, social and digital media is a rapidly changing landscape. And with all that 2020 brought us, including a pandemic, racial justice and a pivotal U.S. election, we saw a shift to focusing more on the connections we make and foster online. Our firms and professionals were forced to shift much of their business development to a virtual landscape, and we all navigated these uncharted waters together. There were ups and downs, and a whole lot of learning in between. As we look ahead to 2021, it is now more important than ever to be present and a part of the conversation online.
"And for our campaign this year, we’ve gathered insights from leading industry professionals who will touch on everything from mental health and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, to the benefits of Instagram and paid advertising."
Firms of all sizes continue to approach social media in a variety of ways. And for our campaign this year, we’ve gathered insights from leading industry professionals who will touch on everything from mental health and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, to the benefits of Instagram and paid advertising. We are covering a wide range of topics and we’re thrilled to invite fellow SIG leaders, LMA leaders and past LMA presenters to the conversation. As always, we extend our deepest appreciation for this year’s contributors for sharing their time, talent and wisdom.
In addition to our daily posts, we hope you stay tuned as we launch a very special program at the conclusion of our campaign. You won’t want to miss it…
We look forward to continuing the conversation as we move into 2021 and are so happy that you’re on this adventure with us.
