Thinking ahead to 2016's Although the holidays have passed (or “holidaze,” as we like to say) and we are barely halfway through meteorological winter, the start of the new calendar year seems the perfect time to start thinking about registering for this year's P3 – The Practice Innovation Conference, which takes place May 17-18 at the Westin Chicago River North. The 2016 P3 Conference — the fourth annual! — falls one month earlier than it has prior years … so timing is everything. As your 2016 co-chairs, we are pleased to provide a preview of the event (and to remind you that you can still save $200 on registration through Jan. 22).
As the P3 disciplines — pricing, project management and process improvement — mature, so has our approach to P3 Conference education. Concurrent education sessions are now structured around two experience-based tracks: essential and advanced. This year’s schedule has also been carefully curated to achieve a balance across the three Ps, with a focus on the practical versus the conceptual. For the second consecutive year, one of the concurrent education slots is dedicated to hands-on workshops run by expert presenters and facilitators who are focused on practical learnings that participants can take away and apply to their day-to-day job roles. Finally, with the support of our “crack” P3 Conference team, the core of the schedule has been developed earlier than ever. This early development is something we focused on with the hope that you are able to view available programming well in advance and discover enough interesting content that you can plan P3 into your spring calendar (or even just promote the conference to your colleagues and network).
In addition to law firm-focused topics on pricing, project management and process innovation, you will find another central theme at the core of 2016 LMA P3 Conference schedule: the law firm-client relationship. This starts with our keynote speaker, Jeff Carr, the former GC of FMC Technologies who was a pioneer in value-based concepts and a leader in launching the ACC Value Challenge. Education sessions about collaboration and harmony between law departments and law firms populate the education session landscape, as do practical sessions on navigating client expectations.
As always, networking is a critical aspect of P3. Having grown to close to 400 participants since godfather Toby Brown's first informal gathering of fewer than ten "pricing directors," P3 is the singular opportunity to connect with colleagues to share experiences, learn new techniques and create lasting connections within the business of law community.
Finally, if you haven't already seen the Oscar award winning (ha!) short film about P3, press play below. After all, we said it best when asked why you should come to P3: "If you don't come to P3, you're not cool" (Keith) and "because it's awesome" (Michael).
See you in Chicago in May 2016!
